Troubleshooting Matrix AI Network’s Blockchain Data Syncing

Troubleshooting coming blockchain data syncing issues.

The Matrix AI Network recently provided an optional update to reduce both the total size of the chain, as well as the time necessary to fully sync chaindata. According to the feedback the team has gathered from the Matrix AI Network community over the past weeks, we have found there are several traps hindering this optional update. This article is to address the common problems Matrix supporters have encountered and provide corresponding solutions.

Please note the following two tips if you fail to sync chaindata.

1. Ensure your code is properly formatted
As the code for this update is full of spaces, numbers, capitals and other characters, it is easy for you to encounter formatting issues. It is recommended that you follow the “Blockchain Data Syncing Guide” and paste all sample code into a text document before inputting code in your Terminal/Command Prompt window.

2. Do not skip any steps (ie. ensure your gman is up to date)
Removing existing chaindata and storing chaindata snapshot alone will not reduce the total size of the chain and the syncing time. You also need to update the gman file. Be sure to undergo all 5 steps — especially the update gman executable step — described in the “Blockchain Data Syncing Guide”.

Specific Problems and the Solutions

Here are the two specific problems that Matrix supporters encountered and solutions provided by the Matrix team.

Q1: Why is the return value less than 861265 when I checked the status of my masternode?
A1: This is usually an indication of improperly formatted code. Check the sample nodes below (for both Windows and MAC users). Please ensure there are two spaces before “your MAN Wallet address”, a space after the wallet address, as well as the quotation marks.

Mac version

Q2: Why can’t I connect to other masternodes and why is “peer” 0?
A2. Please follow the following 3 steps. First, delete the “signature” file stored in the same folder with gman. Second, delete the “nodekey” file in “/chaindata/gman”. Third, restart the program.
