New Announcement: GPU Mining Test Starts!
In order to make full use of the Matrix AI Network’s surplus computing power and better protect the environment, Matrix team decided to make GPU mining available in the test chain. This article will introduce the new functions of GUP mining, preparations and specific steps for the test application.
New Algorithm of GPU Mining
The algorithm of GPU mining includes image processing, combination of multiple hash codes and SM3.
Nodes will undergo AI image computation. After being computed, AI hash will be produced. Combination of multiple hash codes and SM3 computation produces the result of PoW mining. Validators will verify the result by recompution. If the two results are the same, mining blocks will be successfully produced.
During the computation process of AI image, you can get VRF and coinbase to produce random seeds. Then you get 16 images and get AIHash via AI computation.
This test version is not the final version of GPU mining algorithm. Matrix will continue the algorithm upgrading. For instance, Matrix will expand and update the photo gallery of AI image computation on a regular basis.
About testing
The GPU mining test is divided into three parts. Mining equipment commissioning, deployment gman and node mortgage. Before you start, you need to prepare the following:

Get GPU mining test wallet
Go to the GPU Mining Test Wallet to open a new wallet.The wallet address will be used for test currency requests, gman deployments, and node mortgages.
Apply for test coins
In order to reduce the situation of the test chain caused by the un-mining mining after the mortgage, the node gpu mining test only opens the miner node and a small number of verifier nodes. Therefore, the maximum amount of test coin application does not exceed 20,000 man. Please do not repeat the application.
How to apply: Send an email to davidtest@matrix.io, the subject of the email is “GPU Mining Test Coin Application” and fill in the requested wallet address and the amount of test coins requested. The test currency is expected to work in two jobs. The date is up.

Operating system version: The official website version only supports the Linux kernel operating system. It is recommended to use ubuntu 16.04/18.04 LTS.

2. View the block status of the GPU mining test
Go to the Node GPU Mining Test Browser to view information such as the current block height, the time of the block, the number of transfers, and the maximum TPS value.
3. Deadline of node GPU mining test
The GPU mining test is expected to end in mid-October, but the GPU and CPU mining may occur at the same time, resulting in unstable block speed. In order to truly feel the advantages of GPU mining, it may be based on specific conditions. Adjust the test time accordingly.
